My Sister
We grew up together
Our mom told you she was gonna give birth to YOUR baby
And that was me.
You almost crushed me when I was a baby sleeping
Because you so wanted to see me.
You bathed me when I was only 2
Made me haircuts when I was 5
Put on make up on my face when I was 13.
You hit me too, I cried, but I forgive you
You stole my blueberry icecream too.
I said numerous times I was gonna report you to mom, but mostly I just pretended I did, I lied.
We shared laughs and joys
Beauties of childhood
Problems of youthood
Dreams and hopes
Doubts and fears.
We cried together deep into the night when mommy and daddy fought
Prayed things were going to turn out for the better
And she doesn’t get hurt.
Where were we going to live if they got a divorce?
We danced together in the living room
Tried on grandma
